Camping Equipment for the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
SUNRISE PERU TREK is dedicated to making sure we have the best equipment available. You will be hiking through a wide range of terrain from mud in warm weather to snow in cold weather. The trail will be rocky throughout. The safest bet for Inca Trail Trekking footwear is full backpacking boots, which provide good support and protection from the elements. A good compromise is to bring backpacking boots and trail shoes—you can use the trail shoes for camp and interchange the two depending on the conditions and how you feel.
The Inca Trail is an unbelievably beautiful trail with a radiant culture and some of the most fantastic scenery you’ll ever lay eyes on. One of the nicest things about trekking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is that it’s accessible for a wide range of travelers. Many of the most popular routes are “Classic Inca Trail”
Our Tents
Enjoy a good night’s sleep in our spacious Doite or Eureka tent. All our tents are built to be four man tents, but you will only have to share with one other trekker. This leaves a lot of room to spread out comfortably and store your duffels. They are an A-frame design, with entrances on both sides of the tent.
Our Mats
For our treks we provide air-mattress to separate and insulate you from the ground. This mattress is transported by our porters from camp to camp. We also provide small pillows.
Our Sleeping Bag
We use mummy style sleeping bags that are usable in -15° C / 5° F. Please note that if you are over 1.95 meters / 6’4″ tall, you won’t be able to find a sleeping bag rental in Cusco. In this case, it is recommended to bring your own. We provide liners to everyone that is machine washed between every use. These do need to be included in your duffel weight.
